There are three types of eVisas available for foreign nationals:

Requirements

To apply for an Indian e-Visa, foreign nationals must meet the following requirements:

1. The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in India.

2. The applicant must have a return ticket or an onward journey ticket and sufficient funds to support their stay in India.

3. The applicant’s purpose of travel must fall under one of the categories for which an e-Visa is available.

4. The applicant’s passport must have at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.

5. The applicant must provide a passport-sized photograph that meets the prescribed specifications.

6. The applicant must not have any previous criminal record or any pending criminal case.

Validity and Extension

The e-Visa is valid for a maximum of 60 days from the date of arrival in India. The visa is non-extendable and non-convertible. However, foreign nationals can apply for a new e-Visa once the existing one has expired.

Application process:

The application process for an Indian Electronic Visa is entirely online. The applicant needs to visit the official Indian visa website and fill in the online application form with the required details such as personal information, travel details, and passport details. The applicant must also upload a recent passport-size photograph and a copy of their passport. The visa fee must be paid online using a credit or debit card.

Processing time:

The processing time for an Indian Electronic Visa is usually within 72 hours. However, in some cases, it may take longer, especially during peak season or if additional documentation is required.

Restrictions:

The Indian Electronic Visa does not allow the holder to engage in any paid employment or activities that are not related to the purpose of the visit. The visa is also not valid for visiting protected or restricted areas in India.
